Chad Edwards

In 2005 Chad Edwards was named boys basketball coach at Spotswood High School taking over for legendary coach Jim Kramer. Chad is now entering his 20th season as the head coach at his alma mater. During his tenure, he has maintained a 75% winning percentage with an overall record of 375-122. Coach Edwards teams have won District Championships in 15 of his 19 seasons as head coach. At the Region level, Coach Edwards teams have won 7 Region Championships and have finished as Region Runner-Up 7 times. Under Coach Edwards, Spotswood has advanced to the State Tournament 13 times with 2 State Runner-Up finishes in 2013 and 2015. Coach Edwards has been named District Coach of the Year 14 times, Region Coach of the Year 7 times, and VHSCA State Coach of the Year in 2015. Coach Edwards was a member of the Legislative Committee with the VHSCA from 2015-2021. He served as All Star Game Assistant Director for the VHSCA from 2016-2021 and coached in the VHSCA All Star Game 7 times. Coach Edwards currently serves as the Region 3C representative with the VHSL Advisory Board for Basketball. Chad earned a bachelor’s degree in History / Political Science from Bridgewater College in 1994 and a master’s degree in School Administration from Shenandoah University in 2009. Chad and his wife Jessica have two children - Grace and Benson - and currently reside in Keezletown, Virginia.
